HERE and NOW

Hi. I’m Kerri, and by the time I get to the end of this sentence I will have become myself in the next moment, and we are all of us being born anew each second, all of the time. Myself in the present is an anchor for both the person I have been in all the times that came before this, and all the versions of the person I have yet to become.

My past and my future are like kites reeling away from me into a stormy sky. There is a string of my selves that lived for but a moment tied to moving points in time.

My future selves shift and change while they can, until my present self overtakes them and they, too, are receding behind me. My past selves sink like the stones they have been cast into. Memories are used up, empty, broken shells.

We are all constantly splitting into different versions of ourselves, traveling in opposite directions in time. There are the places we have been and the places we are going to discover next. There is time and space in all directions, but we can never have any of it. There is only and always HERE and NOW.
